Getting In Tune With Chinese Music: Erhu

THE erhu is a Chinese string instrument with a uniquely evocative appeal. With just two strings, it produces a remarkable range of notes. One of the easiest Chinese instruments to learn, and beginners will be able to play a simple tune within minutes, though it takes time to truly master. Anyone with a passion for Chinese music is welcome. Instructor Pang Chin Soon, with more than 20 years of experience as an erhu player, has a diploma with distinction in playing the erhu and won the third prize in the National Chinese Music Competition in 1998.
