The erhu is a Chinese string instrument with a uniquely evocative appeal. With just two strings, it produces a remarkable range of notes. The erhu is one of the easiest Chinese instruments to learn, and beginners will be able to play a simple tune within minutes, though it takes time to truly master. Anyone, regardless of age, with a passion for Chinese music is welcome. Instructor Pang Chin Soon, with more than 20 years of experience as an erhu player, has a diploma with distinction in playing the erhu; he also won the third prize in the National Chinese Music Competition in 1998.
