About one in
five Singaporeans has high cholesterol, according to the
Ministry of Health National Health Survey 2004.
If you have high
cholesterol, you should be concerned because it increases your
chances of getting heart attacks and strokes.
It is
crucial
to check your cholesterol
level
regularly
and manage it well,
because
high cholesterol is a
“silent killer” – there are no symptoms.
Patients only develop symptoms when they
develop heart disease and
suffer from
strokes.
