The Ministry of Education
(MOE) outwitted the rest of the field in the Public Service
Duplicate Contract Bridge Competition, which was held on
Saturday, 27 Jun 09, at the Club CSC @ Tessensohn. A niche
mindsport, the event attracted 7 teams from 6 organisations.
“Very happy” was what MOE
convenor Mr Marvin Lai said about his team’s triumph,
especially after its loss to the Ministry of Health last
year. According to him, the team did not have much
preparation, except for online bridge games now and
then. But as the players were all regular players and
teammates in other bridge competitions, the understanding
between them was already in place. He also cited “luck” and
the ability to captialise on opponents’ mistakes as key to
their success.
